![]() Number 1, the first in the series, made approximately a month after ending ECT. (2007) 30"W x 22"H |
This series originates from my recent treatment for major depression, which included 11 treatments of Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT). As I came out of my stupor, the darkness and the labyrinthine course of my brain led me to make these mazes that began the series. They are made on Arches paper, soaked with India Ink, and drawn or painted in graphite using one continuous line. The ennervation in the unsteady wiggles was the best I could do to convey the experience of getting ECT. These are the first phase of the series. Click on any image for enlargement |
